The actual bowl season begins today! The warm up bowls are over and the cash cow bowls are beginning! I could touch on them all, but I'm gonna focus on one today. The Gator Bowl featuring the long beleaguered Michigan Wolverines and the up and coming Mississippi State Bulldogs is a matchup full of intrigue not necessarily because of the game itself, but more for the ramifications coming from the outcome of the game. The coaching tenure of Michigan coach Rich Rodriguez apparently hangs in the balance, and MSU coach Dan Mullen is looking to prove that he is worth the ten million dollar extension he recently signed. The team with more to prove is the Michigan Wolverines, who, if they forget to load the defense on the bus as usual, will most certainly face another overhaul of the coaching position and retooling of the program.
MSU has already proven that they deserve all the credit they are receiving for an overachieving season and they are looking to prove to a very impressive recruiting class that they are worthy of the influx of talent they can be receiving next year.
Michigan has entirely too much to prove today for MSU to cope with. The Big Ten player of the year Denard Robinson is heading back to his home state of Florida and is healthy for the first time since the beginning of the season. The defense for Michigan will need to play like more than Div. 1 players and less like a pee wee league squad, but in the end, the Michigan offense will be too much for MSU and walk away with a win.
The prediction for the game. Michigan 42, MSU 35.
Lets hear from the Mississippi State fans on this one. Why do you feel your team will step up and overcome the daunting challenge of stopping a high powered, jet fuel octane offense that has an all everything quarterback at the helm. Chime in.
As a sidenote, i said yesterday that i will keep my opinions unbiased, but in the efforts of full disclosure, i feel the need to inform that i am a die hard Michigan fan, and this being the last game of the season, and possibly of Rich Rodriguez career, I have to say...... GO BLUE!!!!!!
